Oh Ye of Little Faith
Oh ye of little faith!
Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26
Do you ever get frustrated with the Israelites? Do you ever think you would be so different than the disciples if you experienced the mighty miracles they did? Don’t you think if you saw the hand of God that the biblical characters experienced that your faith would be unshakeable?
I know I have that sense of pride.
Unfortunately, I have come to realize that I am just like them. My faith is so weak. I see God move only to wake the next morning and realize my faith falters.
I’ve told you recently how God spoke in a mighty and unmistakable way a couple of years ago. I heard His voice so plainly. “I’m going to ask you to do something, and if you will be obedient, it will be a gateway to greater blessings than you could ever ask, hope, or imagine.”
Never any doubt it was God.
It was one of the clearest directives I’ve ever had from God.
No specific directions that day, but I knew something was coming.
Two weeks later, He revealed my next step.
And I obeyed.
I’ve spent the last two years waiting for and wondering what was next. I’ve clung to those words like never before. I’ve listened. I’ve allowed Him to work in my heart. I’ve seen Him move, but I have continued waiting and wondering, knowing there was more to come. There has been an incredible sense that He is up to something, and I just can’t see it yet.
Then it happened.
July 17, 2026, will be a day we will remember forever. I’m not at liberty to share the details, but I promise God showed up in a mighty way. The next morning, I woke with the words, “I’m not finished,” ringing in my mind, and I know God was speaking again.
Overwhelmed.
Grateful.
Even shocked to see God show up. I shouldn’t be, but I was.
And then I began to worry.
All the what ifs began running through my mind. The worries and the doubts. The fears and the anxiety. It became all-consuming.
I’ve had a thousand things to do. I’ve scrambled to find the right people, make appointments with all the professionals. My to-do list has grown infinitely longer, and I find myself rushing to get everything completed. Important things have grown less important, and I’m constantly scrambling to make one more call, to make one more decision.
Somewhere along the way, God’s incredible blessing created more fear and anxiety than peace.
It makes me sad to even say that, but it’s true. I lost sight of the fact God came through. He was faithful to keep His word to me!
And even as I watched Him show up, I immediately began to doubt that He could do it again.
Oh, me of little faith!
I’m not proud of it, but I guess it keeps me humble. It makes me realize how weak my faith is. It reminds me that I am a frail and feeble human who just happens to be loved by the Creator of the Universe!
I imagine He’s been in heaven the last few years just watching and waiting until the moment was right. He’s looked down with anticipation as He prepares this good gift to shower on His beloved. And when the great reveal lands, He gets to sit back with a smile on His face knowing how much fun it is to shower those we love with good gifts!
Then I–a spoiled, entitled child–begin to doubt His ability to do it again. I am truly ashamed.
Yet here I sit, the beloved of my Father in heaven. He knows and understands my weak faith, and He loves me anyway.
How blessed I am!
